Thelymitra cyanea
Thelymitra cyanea, the Veined sun orchid is a late-flowering sun orchid found in heathland at sea level to alpine moorland up to 1,000m+. The obviously veined flowers are usually blue but have been seen in mauve-pink and white. At high altitudes, the blue is quite intense.
The specimens below were seen near the top of Mt Wellington on 30 Jan 2022 at around 1000 – 1100mm and mid-Feb 2026 (probably late flowering this year). Also quite common at Peter Murrel reserve, Kingston and very wide spread in the East, NW, W and SW of Tasmania
