Pterostylis pedunculata (Maroon greenhood)

Pterostylis pedunculata (Maroon greenhood) is a common greenhood widely distributed around Tasmania. Around Hobart it is often found in reserves and the foothills of Mt Wellington. It prefer a shaded and moist environment .

Flowers from July to November with a peak in August/September.

Pterostylis pedunculata (Maroon greenhood) forms large colonies. Sterile plans will not produce flowers and large patches of floweless leaves, in the form of rosettes, are common.

There is one flower per scape, green and white striped with distinctive brown/maroon apex.
