Corybas incurvus (Slatey Helmet Orchid)

The Slatey Helmet orchid, Corybas incurvus is found in coastal locations in woodland and heath usually under the shelter of light scrub. A small orchid with the flower and leaves sitting right on the ground. The leaves are more or less heart shaped and green both on top and underneath, around 10 – 30 mm by 8 – 20mm.

Flowering time July through to October. The specimens shown here were photographed 30 July 2020 in the vicinity of Cape Deslacs in very sandy soil under the shelter of low vegetation and ferns.
