Pterostylis parviflora (tiny greenhood)

Pterostylis parviflora, the Tiny Greenhood is as the name suggests, a very small Greenhood and common in open forest locations in many parts of the South, East, North East and Northwest of Tasmania. It withstands quite dry conditions and can be found on a variety of soil types including sandy, clay and mudstone types.

The Tiny Greenhood flowers from Feb to around May and can be found in reserves and forested areas around Hobart including Peter Murrell, Waterworks hills. Being very small ( 8 mm to 25mm high), the flowers are not always obvious.
