Pterostylis alata

Pterostylis alata, Striped greenhood is one of the first early winter/late autumn greenhoods to appear. In SE Tasmania it might be found flowering from late April. The specimens I have found are on sandy soil in open eucalypt woodland. They usually occur in colonies or at least there are a few specimens scattered around within the same location. Locations include Boronia Hill reserve, South Arm including around Cape Des Lacs and elsewhere. Said to be fairly widespread.
